3637091 - Error - 'Item Z2 tax code is invalid' occurs while fine-tuning external tax determination for goods and services activity

Inconsistency found while fine-tuning external tax determination for goods and services activity in the business configuration.

SAP Business ByDesign 

1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
2. Go to the Implementation Projects sub view.
3. Open the First Implementation.
4. Upgrade Failed.
5. Select All checks to see the error messages.

Error message:

Solution profile check ended with content errors.
Design time check ended with content errors.
Execution of check exit CL_TAXEV_EXTDET_CONS_CHECK ended with error; Application component: AP-TTE-GLO.
Item Z2 tax code is invalid.

'Z2' refers to the tax code item under external tax determination for goods and services activity.

• In the Business configuration 'External Tax Determination for Goods and Services' (Configuration ID Z2) maintained with Unlimited valid to date.
• But after scrolling down it is visible that the dedicated tax code used in this configuration is P001 which is expired.

To check the validity, follow the below mentioned steps.

1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
2. Go to the overview sub view.
3. Search for the 'Tax on Goods and Services' activity.
4. Navigate to the Define Tax codes.
5. Check the validity of the dedicated tax code: P001 mapped in the External Tax Determination for Goods and Services.
6. Based on the valid-to-date, it would be expired.

'P001' refers to the tax code which would be mapped under the configuration Item ID Z2.

There are two possible ways to solve this error

1. Delete the item Z2 from external tax determination if it is no longer required.

(or)

2. Extend the validity period of tax code P001 beyond its valid-to-date to ensure it remains valid for the current use.
Once this configuration is corrected, then further activity can be approached.
