Symptom
- The system uses the expiration date entered in Section 1 of Form I-9 to initiate compliance activities, even when a corrected date is provided in Section 2
- The "Employment Eligibility Expiration Date" field in the I-9 Audit Trail reflects the incorrect date entered in Section 1 rather than the corrected date from Section 2
- There is confusion regarding which date (from Section 1 or Section 2) is considered for triggering Reverification
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Reproducing the Issue
- As candidate, complete Section 1 of Form I-9 and enter an expiration date for work authorization.
- As admin when completing Section 2, provide updated or corrected documents with different expiration dates.
- Observe that the system uses the date from Section 1 to trigger reverification, even if Section 2 contains corrected or earlier expiration dates from what is provided by candidate in Section 1
Resolution
- The system design prioritizes the date entered in Section 1 of Form I-9 for triggering compliance activities. This ensures proactive tracking and reminders for upcoming compliance requirements
- Even when HR updates the expiration date in Section 2, the system does not automatically adjust the compliance activity trigger date due to its reliance on the initial employee-provided information in Section 1
