3637156 - Can the 'Other Last Names Used' Field in Section 1 of the I-9 Be Made Mandatory? - Onboarding

Symptom

  • The "Other Last Names Used" field in Section 1 of Form I-9 is not marked as mandatory in the system, though it is required for I-9 compliance
  • The system automatically enters "N/A" in the "Other Last Names Used" field, even when the new hire has a different name on their government documents

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the onboarding module
  2. Attempt to complete Section 1 of Form I-9 for a new hire
  3. Observe that the "Other Last Names Used" field is not mandatory and defaults to "N/A" if left blank
  4. Make changes in the Success Data model under Manage Business Configuration to set the field as mandatory
  5. Verify that the changes do not reflect in the system

Resolution

The "Other Last Names Used" field in Section 1 of Form I-9 is designed as an optional field per system behavior and compliance standards.
