Symptom
- The "Other Last Names Used" field in Section 1 of Form I-9 is not marked as mandatory in the system, though it is required for I-9 compliance
- The system automatically enters "N/A" in the "Other Last Names Used" field, even when the new hire has a different name on their government documents
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the onboarding module
- Attempt to complete Section 1 of Form I-9 for a new hire
- Observe that the "Other Last Names Used" field is not mandatory and defaults to "N/A" if left blank
- Make changes in the Success Data model under Manage Business Configuration to set the field as mandatory
- Verify that the changes do not reflect in the system
Resolution
The "Other Last Names Used" field in Section 1 of Form I-9 is designed as an optional field per system behavior and compliance standards.
