Q2. Who is responsible for providing the correct Visual Studio license?

• Answer: The customer/partner is responsible for ensuring the correct licenses are provided.

Q3. How many licenses do I need to purchase from Microsoft?

• Answer: All Visual Studio software and subscriptions are licensed on a per-user basis. However, each user can have the software installed on any number of devices. Please see Microsoft's licensing terms for more information.

Q4. I am a implementation partner using SAP Cloud Application Studio for customer solutions, can my Visual Studio license be used for each of my clients?

• Answer: Yes it can be used as licenses are tied to the user.

Q5. Does SAP have any guidance on installing the SAP Cloud Applications Studio Extension for Microsoft Visual Studio 2022?

• Answer: You can refer the help documentation on SAP Help Portal or refer to this KBA for more details.

• Answer: No, it can only be used with Professional or Enterprise editions of Microsoft Visual Studio 2022.

Q7. Does the SAP Cloud Applications Studio Extension interact with other Visual Studio extensions?

• Answer: It is not possible to validate across all possible combinations of available Visual Studio extensions. SAP recommendation is to disable other extensions before engaging in developments.

Q8. During the 2-week test-to-production upgrade window, what are SAP’s best practices to handle parallel version management, since only one version of the SDK can be installed at a time? 

• Answer: Unlike the previous isolated/standalone SAP Cloud Applications Studio that allowed multiple versions to run in parallel, the extension is installed within the same Visual Studio environment and cannot be isolated at runtime. As a result, only one version of the SAP Cloud Applications Studio extension can be active at a time. During the 2-week window between test and production upgrades, you must uninstall one version and install the other as needed (procedure should only take 5 minutes). Alternatively, different users can install different versions to work around this limitation. Q9. Can SAP Technical Support help us with licensing or technical issues with Microsoft Visual Studio 2022?

• Answer: No, SAP does not provide support for licensing or installation issues related to Visual Studio. Please contact Microsoft or your internal licensing team for assistance. For more information on Visual Studio 2022, please check the Microsoft's Visual Studio website.

Q10. Can I continue to use the Pilot version of SAP Cloud Application Studio built on the Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 Isolated Shell?

• Answer: No, please ensure that you download the SAP Cloud Application Extension only for the current release of SAP Cloud for Customer or SAP Business ByDesign.

Q11. I see an error while opening a solution: "Severe error while opening a solution: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\Enterprise\Common7\IDE\ABC_123\YXXXXXXX_BC\' is denied."

• Answer: Once you face this error, please close the Implementation Manager; log off the SDK and close Visual Studio. Then open the Visual Studio again and the error will not come up when opening a solution. Please refer to KBA: 3650053 - Solution not opening on SDK Extension from Visual Studio

Q12. "Target Framework not supported" pop-up is raised while opening a Solution, which option should I choose?

• Answer: There are missing necessary .NET Framework packages on your system, please see KBA: 3646437 - Target Framework not supported when opening a PDI Solution. 

Q13. Do we need this with Perpetual License or with MSDN Licenses Subscription?

• Answer: With Perpetual license you can continue using the version you purchased even after your subscription expires, but you won't receive updates to future versions.   ( Currently this is not supported). 
• With MSDN license (now often called a Visual Studio subscription) you are getting access to Microsoft software, which can be used for any development and testing purpose which is recommended. The best is to consult with your IT department to ensure you have the appropriate licenses in place.
