3640459 - Error "Enter a functional area for cost object" when creating new Usable Object in app 'Manage Usable Objects' - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

• Error message: "Enter a functional area for cost Object &1" is shown when attempting to save a newly created usable object in the app 'Manage Usable Objects'.
• The issue occurs after assigning a cost center as the leading account assignment object.
• In Cost Center metadata, a functional area is not maintained for the cost center in question

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the app 'Manage Usable Objects'.
2. Fill in all required fields.
3. Assign the Object Type as "KS" (Cost Center).
4. Assign the Cost Center.
5. Save the usable object.
6. Observe the error message: "Enter a functional area for cost Object &1".

The validation is functioning as designed. If "Cost of Sales Accounting" is active, a functional area must be provided. Without this, the functional area cannot be derived during the periodic posting run, leading to an error.

1. Assign a functional area to the cost center.
2. If the functional area concept is not utilized in the project, create a dummy functional area entry and assign to the cost center.
3. Save the usable object again to resolve the error.
