Symptom
The survey allows users to answer mandatory questions for only one product but does not permit submission, instead prompting the user to fill in all remaining mandatory questions for other products in the survey.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to the Customer work center.
- Go to the Account Work Center View.
- Open Account XYZ (where XYZ is the Account ID)
- Go to Visit facet.
- Open Visit XYZ (where XYZ is the Visit ID).
- Go to the Survey Tab.
- Add a newly created survey containing multiple products, each with mandatory questions.
- Fill in answers only for the mandatory questions of one product.
- Click Submit.
- The system displays an error, requesting answers to all mandatory questions across all products, and prevents submission.
Cause
If default values are configured for mandatory questions in the survey, these values are auto-filled at runtime.
As a result, the system interprets such products as having been partially answered, thereby enforcing that all other mandatory questions for all products must also be responded to before submission.
Resolution
This is standard system behavior.
To prevent this issue from occurring, review the survey configuration and remove any default values maintained for mandatory questions—this ensures that products without user-entered answers are not treated as partially answered during validation.
If the business requirement is to allow submission after completing mandatory questions for only a single product, make sure that for other products either all questions remain unanswered or the entire product section is excluded. This prevents the system from triggering mandatory validation on products that are not intended to be filled.
Once the required adjustments are made in the survey design, it is recommended to test the updated survey in a pre-production or test environment to validate that the submission behavior aligns with your expectations before deploying to production.
