3640856 - Unable to delete job information record with event reason for ending a global assignment

Symptom

When attempting to delete the "End of Global Assignment" job information record on an employee's host assignment after ending their global assignment, the following error message is displayed: "sorry but you cannot delete a job info record with the event reason for ending a global assignment."

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  1. End a global assignment of an employee.
  2. Navigate to the host assignment job information history.
  3. Attempt to delete the "End of Secondment" record.
  4. Observe the error message: "Sorry but you cannot delete a job info record with the event reason for ending a global assignment."

Cause

  • Enhanced validation has been implemented to prevent the deletion of global assignment records from job information.
  • The system does not allow deletion of global assignment records, whether on home employment or host assignment, to avoid data issues or corruption.

Resolution

  1. Use the "Take Action > Manage Global Assignment" option to update the actual end date if the global assignment was closed prematurely or ended in error. This will automatically update the job information record without requiring manual deletion.
  2. If data correction is necessary, perform a full purge import on job information. Refer to the following SAP Knowledge Base Article for guidance:

Another option is to set the global assignment to obsolete status.

  1. Go to the employee.
  2. Select Actions  Manage Global Assignment Details.
  3. Select the icon to Delete the assignment. The end date cannot be empty. However, the delete action deletes all of the global assignment data.

The global assignment status is set to Obsolete for the Job Information History of the deleted global assignment and includes the OGA (obsolete GA) event. For the Job Information History of the Home assignment, the global assignment records are deleted.
