3641388 - The open quantity is bigger than the requirement quantity in ATP check.

Symptom

When doing the ATP check, the open quantity is different from requirement quantity.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the sales order, production order, process order, etc.
  2. Do the ATP check.
  3. Find that the open quantity shown in the ATP check is different from the actual required quantity.

Cause

The difference between the open quantity and the current requirement quantity is caused by the conversion between the base unit and the requirement unit, if the former is larger than the latter.

In the ATP check result screen, the requirement is displayed in the requirement unit. However, the ATP check is carried out based on the base unit. As a result, the requirement needs to be converted to the base unit first.

For example, if the base unit is KG and the requirement unit in the order is PC, and the relationship between them is maintained in the material master as 1KG = 10PC. If the current requirement is 5PC, before checking the availability, it will first be converted to 0.5KG. According to the settings in configuration activity 102179 "Check Units of Measurement" for unit KG, the decimal places are set to 0. In order to fulfill the requirement, 0.5KG needs to be rounded up to 1KG. Then, reflecting on the result screen, 10PC is displayed.

Resolution

It is strongly recommended to use the smallest unit of measure (UoM) as the base unit of measure for the material master. By doing so, no round-up issues will occur during the ATP check, ensuring that the requirement quantities are accurately reflected without any discrepancies.
