Symptom
- When replicating suppliers from Ariba to S/4HANA Cloud, the process fails with the error message: "Maintain mandatory certificate for certificate ID xy and company code xxxx."
- An error message occurs while updating a supplier that is either already assigned to a company code or is being extended to it.
(where xxxx represents company code and xy represents certificate ID)

Reproducing the Issue
Steps for Replicating Supplier:
- Create a supplier in Ariba.
- Attempt to replicate the supplier to S/4Hana Cloud.
- Observe that the replication fails with the error message: "Maintain mandatory certificate for certificate ID xy and company code xxxx".
Steps for Manage Supplier Master Data:
- Open the Manage Supplier Master Data app.
- Select supplier extended to company code.
- Click on edit.
- Change the BP & save the changes.
- Observe the error message: "Maintain mandatory certificate for certificate ID xy and company code xxxx".
Cause
The cause is that the required certificate details for the business partner are missing in the Business Partner master data.
Resolution
Maintain the mandatory certificate details in the Business Partner master data for the relevant company code or deactivate the mandatory certificate setting in the Configuration activity - Assign Certificate ID's (101231).
- Steps for Updating the mandatory certificate details:
- Open the Maintain Business Partner app.
- Choose Open BP and specify the business partner number.
- In the Display in BP role drop-down list, choose the business role.
- Go to the Certificates tab.
- Switch to edit mode.
- Choose Insert Row.
- Maintain the following certificate details in the new row:

Date of Issue
Optional
The date on which the certificate was issued to the business partner.
Description 1 and Description 2

Additional descriptions or details of the certificate.

Any additional dates for the certificate.

Any additional numbers or IDs to maintain for the certificate.
- For adding an attachment for the certificate, select the certificate and choose Create Attachment.
- Select the file to be attached and choose Open.
- Save the changes.
- Steps for deactivate the mandatory certificate setting:
- Open the Configuration activity (101231 - Assign Certificate ID's).
- Select the country/region, group & Certificate ID.
- Specify whether the certificate is mandatory for doing business in the country/region, by selecting one of the following values:
- Not mandatory: It is not mandatory to maintain this type of certificate for business partners in the country/region.
- Yes with error: It is mandatory to maintain this type of certificate for business partners in the country/region. If not, the system displays an error while saving the business partner master data.
- Yes with warning: It is mandatory to maintain this type of certificate for business partners in the country/region. If not, the system displays a warning while saving the business partner master data.
- Save the changes.
