3641492 - Error " Please choose a recognition key where the assignment rule are compatible " in 'Project Control' app

Error message "Please choose a recognition key where the assignment rule are compatible" FINS_REV_REC058  is displayed when attempting to change the revenue recognition key for a project in 'Project Control' app.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the "Project Control" app.
2. Navigate to the project in question.
3. Attempt to edit the revenue recognition key.
4. Observe that the system allows selection of a new key from the dropdown menu.
5. Attempt to save the changes.
6. Note that the system throws the error message "Please choose a recognition key where the assignment rule are compatible".

• The error occurs because the system only allows changes between revenue recognition keys that belong to the same assignment rule or to different assignment rules with identical General Ledger (GL) account configurations in Event-Based Revenue Recognition (EBRR) customizing.
• Differences in GL account configurations between assignment rules prevent the change from being saved, resulting in the error.

1. Review the EBRR customizing settings to identify the assignment rules associated with the revenue recognition keys being used.

2. Currently in our apps, it is considered RA Key as interchangeable only if:

   • RA key is assigned to same assignment rule OR
   • The RA key is from different assignment rule , but this rule has same set of GL accounts/usage. These checks were introduce to be prevent inconsistency during (re)posting revenue on different GL account(s).
3. Compare the GL account configurations between the assignment rules.
4. Ensure that the GL account configurations for the assignment rules are identical if changes between the keys are required.
5. If the GL account configurations cannot be aligned, the revenue recognition key cannot be changed due to system restrictions.
