3642088 - Change Data Source for Model and Opening Story Using the Model in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • After changing the Live Data Connection and Data Source for a model, opening a story that uses the model may result in connections to both the old and new data sources the first time the story is opened after the change.

  • Subsequent openings of the story should connect only to the new data source.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)
  • Live Data Connection

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open a model in the Modeler.
  2. Go to the Preferences menu and click on the menu item “Change Data Source”.
  3. Change the data source to the desired system.
  4. Save the model by pressing on the Save Model button.
  5. Open a story that uses the model.
  6. See that there are connections made to data sources when the story is opened.

Cause

This is by design of the product.

Resolution

  • The first time a story is opened after the model’s data source has been changed, connections may be made to both the old and new data sources.

  • Subsequent openings of the story should connect only to the new data source.
