3642103 - Unable to Change Number Format for Tooltip Measures from "Million" to "m"

Symptom

In a story, the Number Format unit for chart measures can be toggled between millions and m. This switch functions correctly for all measures except tooltip measures.

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log into SAC and navigate to a story.
  2. Click on a chart, open the Builder panel, and add Tooltip Accounts.
  3. Go to the styling panel and locate "Number Format."
  4. Change the Scale Format to "k, m, bn".
  5. Measures in tooltips remain formatted as "Million, "even though the main chart values correctly change to "m".

Cause

This is by designed. The Number Format can only apply on those measures that appear on Chart->Styling Panel->Number Format->Account Selection, measures on tooltip are not included in this format change.
