3642126 - Values In Tables in Story Seports Do Not Retain Percentage Format When Exported With Scope All in SAP SuccessFactors

Symptom

  • Calculated percentage values are displayed correctly in the report designer but lose the percentage format when exported with "scope: All".
  • When exported with "scope: All" and "Include Formatting" checked, percentage values appear as long decimal numbers (e.g., 109.5% appears as 1.0949901).
  • When exported with "scope: Point of View" and "Include Formatting" checked, the percentage format is retained (e.g., 109.5% appears as 109.5%).

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Platform

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Report Center.
  2. Open the Story report.
  3. Verify that the measure is formatted as a percentage in the report designer.
  4. Export the table with the following configurations:
  • **Scope: All**
  • **Include Formatting: Checked**
  1. Observe that the values are exported as long decimal numbers (e.g., 1.0949901).
  2. Export the table with the following configurations:
  • **Scope: Point of View**
  • **Include Formatting: Checked**
  1. Observe that the values are exported correctly with percentage formatting (e.g., 109.5%).

Cause

The behavior is actually by design and represents a known limitation in our current system architecture. Specifically:

  • When exporting data with scope set to "all," the system maintains only the formatting that is defined at the model level
  • Formatting that is defined within the story context (such as your story calculation percentage formatting) is not preserved during the export process
  • This explains why your percentage column appears as decimal values in the exported file, even when "include formatting" is selected

Resolution

This limitation exists because story-level formatting (including story calculations) operates at a different layer than model-level formatting. The export functionality with "all" scope currently only has access to and preserves the underlying model formatting definitions.
