Symptom

The error message 'Sales area &1 &2 &3 does not exist' when trying to save the Sales area in the Business Partner.

***Where &1 represent Sales Org , &2 represents Distribution and  &3 represents Divison ***

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the "Maintain Business Partner" app.
  2. Select the relevant Business Partner (BP).
  3. Change the BP role to "Customer".
  4. Navigate to the "Sales and Distribution" section.
  5. Add sales area details.
  6. Attempt to save the changes.
  7. Observe the error message: "Sales area &1 &2 &3 does not exist".

Cause

The fields "Ref.distr.channel" and "Ref.div Conditions" were not maintained correctly for the relevant sales organization and distribution channel.

Resolution

Maintain the Ref. Distr. Channel and Ref. Div. Conditions fields correctly for the relevant sales organization, distribution channel and division in the configuration, ensuring that the Reference Division and Reference Distribution Channel are properly set up.

Steps to configure in Manage Your Solution app:

  1. Open 'Manage Your Solution' app.
  2. Navigate to 'Configure Your Solution'.
  3. Open the below Configuration activities :
    • Define Common Distribution Channels.
    • Define Common Divisions.
  4. Maintain the Ref. Distr. Channel and Ref. Div. Conditions.
  5. Save the changes.

Incase while using SAP Central Business Configuration (CBC) :

  1. Log on to the project experience in SAP Central Business Configuration.
  2. Select the relevant project.
  3. Navigate to the configurations activity tab. 
  4. Search for the Configuration activities :
    • Define Common Distribution Channels.
    • Define Common Divisions.
  5. Select the configuration activity to navigate directly to the SAP S/4HANA Cloud system.
  6. Maintain the Ref. Distr. Channel and Ref. Div. Conditions.
  7. Save the changes.
