3642570 - Error "you do not have necessary permission" when viewing completed workflow

• The system displays the error message "you do not have necessary permission" when attempting to view the completed workflow 
•  A user is unable to open the ‘Complete Workflow’ link for a specific workflow, receiving an access restriction, while admin users can open the link successfully even though they are not participants in the workflow.

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

1. User attempts to open the ‘Complete Workflow’ link for a workflow.

2. Access is denied with a permissions error.

3. Admin users, not part of the workflow, can open the same link without restriction.

• Access to the workflow details page is controlled by Role-Based Permissions (RBP) with an OR relationship:

• • • Participant in the workflow (approver, contributor, CC role), OR

    • Workflow Admin permission, OR

    • Transactions Pending Approval - Edit permissions for the relevant Employee Central elements.

  • If the user does not meet any of the above, access is denied.

  • Admin users typically have broader EC permissions (and/or workflow admin rights), which allow them to view workflow details even without being participants.

1. Verify if the user is a workflow participant.
2. If not, check whether the user has Workflow Admin permission.
3. If neither applies, ensure the user has Transactions Pending Approval - Edit permissions for the relevant EC elements.
4. Confirm the user’s target population includes the subject user in the workflow.
5. Adjust permissions or roles accordingly.

Important Notes

•  Any one of the following is sufficient for workflow details page access:

• • • Workflow participation

    • Workflow Admin permission

    • Transactions Pending Approval - Edit permission

  • “Manage Workflow Requests” permission alone does not grant access.

  • Target population restrictions still apply.
