3643029 - Error message "Serial number specification is not allowed" during warehouse task confirmation - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

• Error message: "Serial number specification is not allowed." Message no. /SCWM/SERIAL036.
• Unable to input serial numbers during picking task confirmation for warehouse tasks created with reference to PMR documents or posting change documents.
• Serial number requirement is "A" - Document Level.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Create a PMR document.
2. Generate a warehouse taskfor the serialized material with serial number requirement as A - Document Level.
3. Attempt to confirm the warehouse task in the foreground by entering a serial number.
4. Observe the error message: "Serial number specification is not allowed."

The Serial Number Management on document level (A) is reserved for Inbound (PDI) and Outbound Deliveries (PDO) only. It is not supported for PMR documents (PWR) or posting changes (SPC).

If it is required to enter serial number for PMR or posting change document, set material serial number profile as "C" - Stock Level as serial number requirement.
