Symptom
- When updating a pre-condition step in a case flow of a case type, the update also applies to another case type that was created by copying the original case type.
- For example, adding a condition such as "Source (originDescription) contains Email" to the original case type automatically applies the same condition to the copied case type.
Environment
SAP Sales and Service Cloud Version 2
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a new case type (e.g., ZE2) by using the "Copy to new case type" functionality on an existing case type(e.g ZE1).
- Update the pre-conditions of the original case type (e.g., ZE1).
- Observe that the changes are automatically replicated in the copied case type (e.g., ZE2).
Cause
- This is an expected behavior. When a new case type is created by copying an existing case type, the pre-conditions maintained in the source case type are also copied to the new case type.
Resolution
- If the business requirement demands different pre-conditions for the new case type, unlink the copied pre-condition by performing the following steps:
- Navigate to the case type configuration.
- Edit the step where the pre-condition is applied.
- Go to the "Preconditions" section and delete the entry conditions.
- Add new entry conditions specific to the new case type.
- Verify that the changes do not impact the source case type from which the new case type was copied.
