3643475 - Unable to Assign a Time Model to an Employee

Symptom

Unable to assign the Time Model XYZ an Employee.
System shows the Error Message below:
"Partial day absences not allowed as no planned working time".

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Time Administration WoC > Employees.
  2. Search for the affected Employee ID.
  3. Access the Time Profile tab.
  4. Go to the Work Schedule sub-tab.
  5. Maintain the Time Model.
  6. Attempt to save the changes.

Cause

The error occurs because the time profile and time model are set from a specific date to unlimited. Partial day absences are not allowed on Mondays due to the working days shifting from Monday-Friday to Tuesday-Saturday when the time model was re-assigned.
With that, time bookings already exist until July 2025, causing conflicts with the updated time model.

Resolution

To fix this scenario please follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Time Administration WoC > Employees.
  2. Search for the affected Employee.
  3. Access the Time Profile tab.
  4. Select the existing time profile with the time interval as DD.MM.YYYY to unlimited.
  5. Click the "Copy" button to create a new entry.
  6. Set the start date of the new time profile and the end date to unlimited.
  7. Go to the Work Schedule sub-tab.
  8. Maintain the Time Model.
  9. Save the changes.
  10. Perform a Run Day Closure for one employee to verify that the data is properly maintained.
