Symptom
You are unable to uncheck the 'required' flag for Label : Last Name and Technical Name : familyName for Individual Customer under Extensibility Administration
Environment
SAP Sales Cloud and SAP Service Cloud Version 2
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to User Menu
- Go to Settings
- Go to All Settings
- Go to Extensibility Administration under Extensibility
- Search for Individual Customer
- Open Individual Customer service
- Go to Field Attributes facet
- Uncheck 'Show Only Custom Fields'
- Go to familyName
- The required field is greyed out
Cause
Without a last name, it’s harder to find the right customer, match them to past interactions, or personalise outreach. Adding it upfront keeps your data clean, makes searching and reporting easier, and ensures sales, service, and marketing teams always have complete information to work with.
This is standard in the product.
Resolution
Kindly use the 'email address' as a last name and if one does not exist, Kindly use custom logic (determinations) to default a family name (e.g. unknown/dummy)
