3644013 - Statements are visible to everyone in the Latest People Profile - Compensation and Variable Pay

Symptom

After the 2H 2025 release, the Latest People Profile was activated. With Latest People Profile, categories primarily align with sections of the latest People Profile. Instead of using RBP, administrators use the Configure Latest People Profile admin tool to control access to a specific category. If it's not configured, the category is visible to everyone, resulting in the possibility of statements being visible to all users if certain configurations are missing in the system.

This can mainly impact Variable Pay and Combined statements when the switch "View generated Variable Pay Statements, Variable Pay Individual View, and Combined Statements based on Role-Based Permissions" is disabled under Company Settings.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Compensation

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Enable Latest People Profile
  2. Go to an employee's profile and see that statements portlet is visible while it was not before enabling it

Cause

This is an expected behavior based on the Latest Profile documentation. The permission roles for the employees either have statements permission under Employee Data with target population set to everyone, while Employee Views would define the visibility, or for Variable Pay and Combined statements, the statements permission was based on the data model read permission when having  "View generated Variable Pay Statements, Variable Pay Individual View, and Combined Statements based on Role-Based Permissions" switch disabled.

On the Latest People Profile, all categories will be available by default to users and will not follow RBP for Employee Views. Please refer to the documentation below:

Resolution

In order to restrict employee's permission to the categories, please make that change in Configure Latest People Profile by editing each category and adding the roles that should have permission to see it.

Other configuration options following our best practices:

  • Make sure Employee Data permission is set with the proper target population.
  • For Variable Pay and Combined statements, enable feature "View generated Variable Pay Statements, Variable Pay Individual View, and Combined Statements based on Role-Based Permissions" under Company Settings -> Action for All Plans so it follows RBP
  • In case the feature above is not enabled, then make sure to have the permission roles added in the data model. In case a wild card is in place, remove it and add the roles as wild card is not supported. Go to Manage Business Configuration -> Employee Profile -> Standard -> Search for personalVarPayStatement -> Check under Element Permission if wild card (*) is added -> delete it -> Once deleted, then the other applicable permissions (mentioned in element permissions) will take effect.
  • Under the template itself -> Complete Compensation Cycle -> Manage Statement Templates -> Manage Permissions -> Use roles under "Change permissions for who can view generated statements"
  • Disable the cards under Configure Latest People Profile
  • Alternatively, consider deactivating temporarily PPX while deciding on the best approach to your business.
