Symptom
While assigning access rights and attributes to a new employee, the update gets stuck at "In Progress" and does not complete.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Personal Administration and select Regular Tasks, then choose Hire Employee.
- Hire a new employee.
- Go to Application and User Management and select Business Users.
- Search for and select the hired business user.
- Choose Edit.
- Assign the required access rights and attributes.
- Choose Save. The update status remains in "In Progress", and the following error message is displayed: "The S_BUSINESS_USER security policy is deprecated."
Cause
The business user is assigned the default security policy S_BUSINESS_USER, which is deprecated. This prevents the update from completing and keeps the status in "In Progress".
Resolution
- Go to Application and User Management and select Business Users.
- Select Edit, then open the Attributes section.
- In the Security Policy field, select S_BUSINESS_USER_V2 instead of S_BUSINESS_USER.
- Choose Save.
- The update status should now complete successfully
Note: For new employees, the system may assign the deprecated policy S_BUSINESS_USER by default. Update it to S_BUSINESS_USER_V2 before assigning access rights
