3644483 - How Ratings for Performance Potential Summary Section behaves in PM forms

Symptom

  • How the Performance Potential Summary Section ratings behaves for the Performance Management forms and How both manual and calculated ratings from Summary Sections reflect in perfpot-summary-sect.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Performance Management

Resolution

Overall Form Rating

A form can be configured with both Performance Potential Summary Section and Summary Section. In this case, the performance rating from the Performance Potential Summary Section is used as the Overall Form Rating. The rating is also used for reporting and other modules, for example, calibration sessions. If you disable the performance rating in the performance potential summary section, the overall form rating will not be available.

In case users give a manual rating in the summary section, we recommend that rating scales should be consistent in both sections, including the Unrated and Too New to Rate configurations. So, the rating in the performance potential summary section could be updated automatically.

NOTE:

The Summary section in Performance Management forms includes the configuration<unrated-rating><![CDATA[]]></unrated-rating> by default. However, the Performance–Potential Summary section does not include this configuration.

If you encounter an issue where the overall rating is not automatically populating in the Performance–Potential Summary section—even though the rating scales in both sections are the same (including matching point scales)—please ensure that the following line is added to the form template XML within the Performance–Potential Summary section:

<unrated-rating><![CDATA[]]></unrated-rating>

This line must be placed directly below the <default-rating> tag in the Form Template XML within the Performance–Potential Summary section. Adding this configuration aligns the rating behavior between the two sections and resolves the issue.

Manual Rating

If you are using Manual Rating under both Summary Section and Performance Potential Summary Section, when updating the Performance rating in any one of those it will make the other rating autofill automatically. Same happens with your Overall Score POD that will be updated if you enter the rating in either one of those two summary sections. For achieving this result you need to have the following configuration in Manage Templates:

  • Allow overall performance rating to be edited under Performance Potential Summary Section should be enabled
  • Display the overall performance-potential matrix under Performance Potential Summary Section should be enabled
  • Allow manual rating under Summary Section should be enabled
  • Write permission should be properly given to both sections and their chosen roles

Calculated Rating

If you are using a Calculated Rating in your Summary Section there are some considerations you should have such as:

  • Calculated Rating will update the Overall Form Rating of Summary Section when the form is routed to next step if:
    • Allow Override of Unrated Manual Rating is enabled in the Summary Section (form XML must have override-unrated="true")
  • Calculated Rating will not update the Performance rating of a Performance Potential Summary Section
  • Overall Score POD will not be updated by the Calculated Rating, even after form be routed and Overall Form Rating filled in Summary Section
