3645384 - Approver of Shopping Cart is not the one you expect when using work distribution "Approval by Next Level Reporting Line Unit Manager".

Symptom

While creating a Shopping Cart you have noticed that the approver picked by the system is not the one you were expected based on the Approval Process in place.

Approval Process View

  1. Search for and open the Approval Process related to the Shopping Cart.
  2. One of the steps, specifically the second one or later, uses the "Approval by Next Level Reporting Line Unit Manager" for Work Distribution.

You expect this step to follow the hierarchy of Org Unit Managers as defined in your company's Organizational Structure from the Organizational Management.

However, when creating a new Shopping Cart, the approver selected for this step does not align with your expectations.

Cause

When using the work distribution method 'Approval by Next Level Reporting Line Unit Manager', the system will select the direct manager of the previous approver, rather than the Org Unit Manager specified in the organizational hierarchy.

The previous approver is also the direct manager of the Shopping Cart requester.

Resolution

This is the expected system behavior.
