Symptom
- The approver is not receiving the 'Approve' option in their inbox for Service Entry Sheets (SES) workflows. Instead, they are presented with 'Release' and 'Reject' options.
- The available options in the inbox include Release, Reject, Forward, Suspend, Claim, Show Log and Show Details, but the 'Approve' option is missing.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Create an SES using a reference Purchase Order.
- Send the SES for approval.
- Observe that the approver is notified in their inbox but only sees the options to 'Release' and 'Reject' the document, with no 'Approve' option available.
Cause
In SES processing, the system uses the term 'Release' instead of 'Approve' by design.
Resolution
- In SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, if the approver sees Release/Reject instead of Approve/Reject when handling a Service Entry Sheet (SES) workflow task, it’s due to how the workflow scenario and terminology are configured.
- The terms Release/Reject are standard for SES workflows and functionally equivalent to Approve/Reject.
