Symptom
In the Manage Service Orders app, the Actions button or action options are not visible when opening a Service Order.
As a result, the user cannot perform actions such as:
- Edit the Service Order
- Create a follow-up document
When the same user tries to create a new Service Order, the following error message may be displayed:
You are not authorized to create a service order
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Cause
The user does not have sufficient authorization to create or change Service Orders.
The Edit, Create Follow Up, and other action buttons require write access. If the assigned business role does not provide write access, or if the write access is restricted incorrectly, the action buttons may not be displayed.
Resolution
Maintain the correct write access for the user through the business catalog:
SAP_S4CRM_BC_SERV_MGR_PC
Check the business role that contains this catalog and make sure that:
- Write access is assigned.
- The write access is either:
- Unrestricted, or
- Restricted with the correct restriction values
- If write access is restricted, the restriction settings do not prevent the user from creating or changing the required Service Orders.
The standard business role containing this catalog is:
SAP_BR_CUSTOMER_SRVC_MGR
This standard role can be used as a reference when creating or adjusting custom business roles.
Steps to Check
- Open the relevant business role assigned to the affected user.
- Check whether the business catalog SAP_S4CRM_BC_SERV_MGR_PC is included.
- Review the access category and restriction values for the catalog.
- Ensure the user has the required write authorization.
- Save and publish the business role changes.
- Ask the user to log out and log back in.
- Open the Manage Service Orders app again and check whether the action buttons are available.
