Symptom
- The Trash Icon (Delete) is always visible by default in Edit UI of Employee Central grid-based portlets.
- This occurs regardless of whether the portlet supports Delete permission configuration in Role-Based Permissions (RBP).
- The behavior is observed consistently across grid-based portlets such as: Address Information, Contact Information, Nation ID, Primary Emergency Contact, Payment Information, Alternative Cost Distribution etc.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Log into SF instances.
- Navigate to employee profile.
- Ensure that employee do not have delete permission for the relevant information.
- Navigate to any grid-based portlet such as Address information or Primary Emergency Contact.
- Click on the Edit (Pencil Icon).
- Observe that the Trash Icon is visible.
Cause
The Trash icon visibility is not controlled by the Delete permission in RBP, and is considered a standard part of edit mode and is displayed in edit mode regardless of the whether the user has the delete permissions or not.
Resolution
- This behavior is expected and works as designed.
- It is currently not possible to restrict, hide, or remove the Trash Icon in Edit UI of EC grid portlets based on RBP permissions.
