3646279 - Conversion of leads to opportunity for leads with no write access

Symptom

You are able to convert Leads for which you do not have write access

Environment

SAP Sales Cloud Version 2

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Logon as a user where the user has No write access for Leads entity and unrestricted write access for Opportunity entity
  2. Go to Navigation Menu
  3. Go to Leads
  4. Open a lead
  5. Click Create (+)
  6. Click Opportunity
  7. Enter details and save
  8. The lead is converted even though the user does not have access to lead

Cause

The unrestricted write access for the Opportunity entity allows users to create follow-up Opportunities, which inadvertently updates Leads and sets the status as Converted, even when the user does not have write access to the Lead itself.

Resolution

This is the current expected system behaviour.
