3646717 - Advanced shipping notification sent to ship-to party without collaboration enabled

Symptom

  • Advanced Shipping Notifications (ASN) are sent to ship-to accounts even though these accounts do not have collaboration enabled for ASN in their master data.
  • The issue occurs despite the ship-to accounts not having the "Advanced Shipping Notification Outbound" option checked as active in the collaboration tab.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Outbound Logistics work center and select the Outbound Deliveries view.
  2. Select the option to display All Outbound Deliveries by Selection.
  3. Search for the relevant outbound delivery number.
  4. Once the delivery is located, select Edit to open the delivery details.
  5. Navigate to the Output History sub-tab and confirm that an Advanced Shipping Notification (ASN) has been generated.
  6. Select the ship-to party associated with the delivery to open the Business Partner Organization Overview.
  7. Choose View All to access complete business partner details.
  8. Navigate to the General sub-tab and locate the Accounts section under the business partner roles.
  9. Select View All to expand the Accounts section.
  10. Go to the Communication tab and open the Collaboration sub-tab.
  11. Verify that the Advanced Shipping Notification Outbound option is not marked as active and the output channel is not maintained.

Cause

Since The ship-to party and bill-to party in the sales order reference the same account. The account used in the associated sales order has Advanced Shipping Notification (ASN) enabled in its master data. Consequently, the system uses this account's settings to determine ASN generation.

ASN generation is based on the account information specified in the sales order.

Resolution

  1. Navigate to the Account Management work center and select the Accounts view.
  2. Choose the option to display All Accounts.
  3. Search for the relevant account number.
  4. Select the account ID and choose View All to open the full account details.
  5. Navigate to the Communication tab and open the Collaboration sub-tab.
  6. Modify the settings to ensure the Advanced Shipping Notification Outbound option is unchecked or inactive, if ASN generation is not required.
  7. Save the changes to the account’s master data.
