3647063 - Story Filter Not Showing Members in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • In SAC story with a story filter, the list of members is empty.
  • The following error should show up in the har file:
    • "Text": "The Cube that exceeds the limits contains the following dimensions : Rows: [DIMENSION NAME]"
    • "The selection returned more records than the limit in MaxResultRecords : actual/query/default = 1259768/1000000/1000000"
    • "The selection returned more records than the limit in MaxResultRecords : The selection returned more records than the limit in MaxResultRecords : Number of data records exceeded: 1259768"

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 2025.8.18  

 

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open a story with story filter
  2. Select a dimension member
  3. Notice the list of dimension member is empty 

Cause

  • When there is an update to a SAC tenant, sometimes objects will not get updated correctly or will not have their metadata updated to the latest patch level.

Resolution

  • Recreating the filter of the affected object will refresh the widget metadata and allow it to start working.
