Symptom
Whenever a user selects a new theme in the Fiori Launchpad immediately after opening the Web Dynpro ABAP application (e.g., Maintenance Order), the theme is correctly applied. However, after refreshing the page, the backend theme configuration overrides the theme selection in Fiori.
For instance, an user change the Fiori theme to dark mode (e.g sap_belize_hcb, a SAP High Contrast Black Belize theme), while in the Web Dynpro backend application, a light mode theme is defined (e.g, sap_fiori_3). Upon refreshing the page, it loads the application with light mode theme defined in the backend, ignoring the selected Fiori theme and causing a discrepancy as per example below:
