Symptom
-
Purchase order notes disappear when the supplier is changed in a saved draft purchase order.
-
This issue occurs even if the communication language of the supplier remains unchanged before and after the change.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Save a purchase order as a draft in the Manage Purchase Order app.
- Change the supplier in the draft purchase order.
- Navigate to the memo tab to check the contents of the notes.
- Observe that the memo or notes disappear after the supplier change.
Cause
- Notes in a purchase order are linked to the supplier's communication language. If the supplier is changed, the system refreshes all long texts, including memos, as part of its standard behavior.
- This refresh logic does not differentiate between text types or retain notes, even if the communication language remains unchanged.
Resolution
-
Refreshing of long texts when the supplier is changed is standard system behavior in SAP S/4HANA.
-
Certain memo texts may be derived from supplier data or refer directly to the supplier, which causes them to be refreshed upon supplier change.
-
There is no system logic to retain specific text types during a supplier change.
