3648471 - Rehiring terminated employees in Fieldglass creates new person id instead of using existing Person Id in SuccessFactors

Symptom

When replicating employees from Fieldglass to Employee Central (EC), rehiring a terminated employee as a contingent worker results in the creation of a new Person ID instead of linking the new employment to the existing Person ID.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite
  • Employee Central
  • FieldGlass

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Rehire a terminated employee in Fieldglass.
  2. Run the integration to replicate data to SuccessFactors EC.
  3. Observe that a new Person ID is created instead of updating the records of the existing Person ID.

Cause

  • A known limitation exists when rehiring regular employees as contingent workers. The Person IDs of inactive regular employees are not accessible in Fieldglass.
  • Fieldglass uses autogenerated IDs to identify individuals, and these IDs cannot be overwritten or linked to existing records in SuccessFactors EC.

Resolution

For now, the current integration logic does not support linking contingent worker employments to existing Person IDs in SuccessFactors EC.

If you think this should be a possibility, please submit an enhancement request through the "Influence SAP" platform at http://influence.sap.com/successFactors to propose functionality changes for future releases.
