Symptom
There is a custom requirement to make the user becomes active in Employee Central (EC) before their actual start date, even though the user is initiated from IAS. IAS does not pick up the correct start date from the standard employmentInfo entity. This early activation may cause premature payroll/benefits processing and grant system access before the intended start date.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Resolution
- IAS reads the start date from employmentInfo, but the standard start date field was not being recognized in this process. The customer created a custom Hire Date field associated with the employmentInfo start date. IAS now reads this custom field, which allows the system to process the user correctly.
- This behavior is due to custom configuration, not standard system design. By creating the custom Hire Date field mapped to the start date in employmentInfo,
- IAS is now able to read the correct value. No further action is required unless the customer wants to revert to standard functionality, in which case standard field mapping and validation would need to be restored.
