Symptom

A new rule has been maintained via the : "Period (.), slash (/), hyphen (-) and underscore (_) not permitted"

Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the work centre: Business Configuration.
  2. Select the view: Overview.
  3. Search for "Document Numbering Formats for Customer Invoicing" under All Configuration Elements.
  4. Open the configuration element and select 'Define document numbering formats' for the given region.
  5. Add Row and maintain all required criteria before saving.
  6. Observe the error message: "Period (.), slash (/), hyphen (-) and underscore (_) not permitted."

Cause

This error arises when a period (.), slash (/), hyphen (-) or underscore (_) is used in the Prefix Value field. These characters are not permitted within the Prefix Value field.

Resolution

This is the expected system behavior. 

The Separator field can be used to include either a period (.), hyphen (-), or underscore (_) to separate the prefix, numeric part, and suffix of the document IDs.
