Symptom
Unable to tick the final invoice indicator in a Purchase Order (PO) associated with a work order that has TECO (Technical Completion) status.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Access the "Display PO Advanced" app and view the relevant Purchase Order (PO).
- Enter edit mode and attempt to tick the "Final Invoice" indicator.
- Click "Check" or save the changes.
- Observe the error message: "System status TECO is active (ORD xxxxx) Message no. BS013."
Cause
The error message "System status TECO is active" is triggered because the system is enforcing the technical completion, which means that the work order is considered closed and no further financial or operational activities should be processed against it.
Resolution
- In SAP Plant Maintenance, the TECO (Technical Completion) status indicates that the work order is technically completed and, thus, no further postings or changes are allowed. This status is designed to prevent any modifications to the order or its follow-on documents after it has been completed and closed from a technical standpoint.
- This is standard behavior in SAP because TECO status is intended to mark the technical completion of a work order, and making further postings, any changes to follow-on documents or invoices against such an order would contradict the purpose of the TECO status.
