3650839 - ''Could not connect to the SMTP server. Please check if the information provided is accurate'' error when configuring Custom SMTP Server(MS office 365) in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

When configure Custom SMTP Server(MS office 365) on SAP Analytics Cloud, the following error is shown when click Check Configuration:

• "Could not connect to the SMTP server. Please check if the information provided is accurate."
• ''testConnection: failed for job ****** for tenant ''tenant-id'' Due to 550-spam detected. transport denied.''

•  SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2025.14.9

1. Navigate to SAC > System > Administration > Notifications > "Email Server Configuration"
2. Choose "Custom" for mail server configuration.
3. Choose "Basic" for authentication.
4. Enter the following details for the configuration:
    "host": "******",
       "port": "25",
       "Username": "******",
       "password": "*******",
       "Envelope Sender Address": &#*EMAIL*"
   
   
5. Validate the configuration by clicking "check configuration"
6. Notice the error.
   "Could not connect to the SMTP server. Please check if the information provided is accurate.
   Correlation ID: ..."

• When the "Check Configuration" option is used, SAP system attempts to send a test email to verify if the configured SMTP server is accessible.
• Spam detect mechanism is implemented in end-user's SMTP server. It was treating the test connection email as spam and it failed. 

• Recommendation: check with responsible end-user's IT team for potential blocking mechanism.
