3651722 - Error: “Note 0002890171; no entry for <software component> “ when using transaction CNV_NA_DI

When executing transaction CNV_NA_DI in an ABAP-based On-Premise system, the following error occurs:

• Note 0002890171; no entry for S4CORE/DMIS <version> FSP <nnnn>" (or a similar message)

• SAP Datasphere
• S/4HANA On-Premise
• ABAP-based On-Premise system with DMIS

1. Run Transaction CNV_NA_DI
2. Error message is displayed

This issue usually occurs when the Note Analyzer tool (CNV_NA_DI) is executed in a productive system.

In production systems, clients are generally locked against changes. During the processing of CNV_NA_DI, a message such as:

• Note 0002890171; no entry for S4CORE 108 FSP 0000" (or a similar message)

is raised because the Note Analyzer tool cannot read the required note context.

As explained in KBAs 1842219 and 2833204, the system change settings by default do not allow note downloads or changes in production systems.

To resolve the issue, temporarily adjust the system change options as follows:

1. Navigate to transaction SE03/SE06 and select Set System Change Option.
   • Change the Global Setting to Modifiable.
   • Locate the Software Component/Technical Name SAP_BASIS, S4CORE or DMIS and set to restricted modifiability.
   • Locate the Namespace/Name Range /0SAP/ and set to Modifiable.
2. Re-run transaction CNV_NA_DI, SAP Note 2890171 will be downloaded during the process.
3. After CNV_NA_DI has been executed, revert the system change option back.

• KBA 1842219 - System setting does not allow changes to be made to object NOTE <Note Number>
• KBA 2833204 - SNOTE: Error occurred while downloading SAP Note
