3652392 - Can not change the unit of measure when creating purchase order

Symptom

Warning 'ME898: Order unit XX cannot be used' occurred when trying to change the material unit in PO.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

Missing Variable Purchase Order Unit configuration in material master.

Resolution

  1. Open APP Change Material and select the related material
  2. Go to the Purchasing view
  3. Active the Variable Purchase Order Unit as 1
  4. Maintain the conversion rules between different UoM(if conversion rates have not been maintained)

For a PO that does not reference a PR or PIR, the Unit of Measure (UoM) will be read from the material master. To ensure the flexibility to change between different UoMs, make sure that the indicator "Var. OUn" is active and that the conversion rates between different units are maintained.
