3652560 - Where is the SAP Cloud Agent located and how to find it? - SAP Analytics Cloud

Symptom

  • Support has asked for SAP Cloud Agent version information.
  • Support has asked you to update the SAP Cloud Agent.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud Enterprise 2025.

Resolution

The SAP Cloud Agent is a software component installed within your own network. Its main purpose is to act as a secure bridge between SAP Analytics Cloud and the on-premise systems, enabling data connectivity without exposing those systems directly to the internet.

Because the Agent requires a Java runtime, it is packaged to run on Apache Tomcat, a free, open-source Java servlet container. In this setup, Tomcat serves as the underlying web server, while the Cloud Agent runs on top of it to handle communication between SAC and the on-premise landscape. For this reason, they are often referred to as a single instance.

For this reason, the SAP Cloud Agent, along with the Apache Tomcat, can vary in location and depends solely on where the Network Infrastructure team has installed both programs. To find where it is located, contact the team responsible for the Network Infrastructure in your company and ask them where the Tomcat/Agent is installed.
