3652659 - Error "The predecessor & has the status incorrect" on in-house repair process

When deciding a follow up document for an in-house repair object (e.g. a repair quotation), the error "The predecessor &has the status incorrect" is thrown and it's not possible to continue the process.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Go to the 'Perform Prechecks' app.
2. Enter the repair order.
3. Select the concerned repair object.
4. Click on 'Decide'.
5. Choose a follow-up document.
6. Error "The predecessor & has the status incorrect" is thrown.

This happens when a returns order is created with a serial number that was created without activating the equipment view. In this case, an in-house repair is created with the repair object and the above error.

If the equipment view is activated for the serial number later, this error doesn’t go away and it blocks the further processing of the repair object. 

Follow the next steps to confirm the equipment view is not active for the serial number:

1. Go to the app 'Display Equipment' (IE03).
2. Enter the equipment number.

If after pressing enter, the error "Equipment & does not exist", this means that the equipment view was not active on creation.

As a workaround, it's advised is to create a new in-house repair with the serialized equipment created correctly: with the equipment view active.
