• Is it possible to edit instructor ID?
• When trying to edit the instructor ID via import data, the following message returns on the error log: "Adding 'this' data is not supported based on the user selected import option 'Update'"

1. Navigate to System Administration > System Management Tools > Import Data >
2. Select Import Data >
3. Choose Instructor in the Record Type field >
4. Select Update in the Import Option field >
5. Click Choose File in the Import File field and select the file to import with the Instructor ID field edited >
6. Submit the import and run the job immediately >
7. Observe the job status as Failed >
8. Download the error log and note the error message: "Adding 'this' data is not supported based on the user selected import option 'Update'".

Instructor IDs are immutable and cannot be updated after creation.

• As a workaround, the instructor ID can be inactivated and a new instructor can be created with the desired ID.
• The new instructor ID can be linked to the user by editing the Related User field on the instructor record.
• The primary instructor of existing classes should be edited with the new ID to ensure the instructors have proper access to manage the classes.
• Caution is needed when deleting an instructor ID from the system, as the ID is unique it is not possible to create an instructor with the same ID later.
