3653501 - Error "Incorrect definition of scenario BBP" or ABAP dump occurs after system upgrade in Organizational Management (OM) scenarios

Symptom

  • After upgrading to SAP S/4HANA, execution of certain Organizational Management (OM) related functionalities or custom development (such as custom RFCs or function modules) fails.
  • The system issues the error message:
    "Incorrect definition of scenario BBP. See SAP Note 3437694"
  • An ABAP short dump may occur, possibly referencing issues with class CL_BBP_ATTR_SCENARIO or a failed COMMIT WORK AND WAIT statement.
  • Business processes such as vendor creation or other OM-related processes are blocked.
