  • The Instance Metadata Service (IMDS) provides data about your Amazon EC2 instance that you can use to configure or manage this instance. Instance metadata is provided via two different methods:
    • Version 1 (IMDSv1): a request/response method
    • Version 2 (IMDSv2): a session-oriented method
