3654383 - Error Rendering List component (or) Error getting query preview when selecting Picklist fields in Canvas Advanced Reporting

• When selecting certain Picklist external code and label fields from MDF object in Advanced Reporting, the error "Error getting query preview" is displayed in query designer.
• In Canvas page it shows  "Error rendering list report component".
• Error logs from Analytics Log Viewer indicate: "---> Hrml.Hana.HanaDbException: ExecuteDbDataReader failure ---> com.sap.db.jdbc.exceptions.JDBCDriverException: [2]: general error: ; $condition$=leftExp->get_evaluation_type().ftc == rightExp->get_evaluation_type().ftc. 
     at com.sap.db.jdbc.ConnectionSapDB.execute(Boolean isStatement, RequestPacket requestPacket, Boolean ignoreErrors, Boolean isParse, Object executingObject, JdbcCommunication session, Boolean avoidReconnect) ".

1. Log in to the instance with support access;
2. Run the affected Canvas report;
3. Observe the error "Error rendering list report component";
4. Edit the query and observe the error "Error getting query preview";
5. Remove the external code and label fields from the query;
6. Verify that the report works correctly without these fields.

Known HANA DB issue

The Issue has been fixed as of 23rd May 2026.

Background

The fix was originally planned for deployment with the 2511 release, followed by a HANA upgrade across Production Data Centers. During the recent upgrade of HANA in the Preview Data Centers, however, critical issues were identified that impacted key modules, including Recruiting (RCM), Learning (LMS), and Employee Central (EC).

To safeguard system stability and avoid potential disruptions, the upgrade of Production Data Centers has been placed on hold.

Following discussions with the HANA team, it has been confirmed that version 82 will not receive the required fixes. 

To ensure long‑term stability, the recommendation is for SuccessFactors to move directly to version 89 in release 2605.

• The HANA team has assured us that any bugs identified in v89 will be addressed promptly and will not hinder the upgrade path.

• For SuccessFactors customers, the next planned upgrade is to version 88/89 in the May 2026 release.
