3654932 - Branch Number Not Available at Journal Entry Header in API Journal Entry - Post (Synchronous)

Symptom

When posting a journal entry via the API Journal Entry – Post (Synchronous), the Branch field is not available at header level. In the Manage Journal Entries app, the Branch number does not appear, even though it is visible in the app’s header section for manually posted entries.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud

Cause

The Branch displayed in the header of Manage Journal Entries is not a true header field. It corresponds to the India localization field Business Place (technical field BUPLA), which is stored at the line-item level. When posting through the API, if no Business Place is populated in the line items, the header Branch display will remain blank. 

Resolution

In the payload for Journal Entry - Post (Synchronous), populate the Business Place (BUPLA) field on all relevant line items (e.g., supplier/vendor items and offsetting G/L items).

If all items are populated with the same Business Place, the system will aggregate and display that Branch in the header of Manage Journal Entries.

If Business Place values differ across items, or none are provided, the Branch field in the header will remain empty.
