3654983 - LNX: SAP work process restarted due to "Protocol not available" error

Symptom

  • Huge amount of SAP work processes restart during Application server startup.

  • The issue is resolved itself after some time being.

  • dev_w* (SAP work process trace)

    C  *** ERROR => Connect to database failed, rc=1, rcSQL=-10709
    C  SQLCODE    : -10709
    C  SQLERRTEXT : Connection failed (System call 'connect' failed, rc=92:Protocol not available {<ip address>:<port>}  
    B  ***LOG BV3=> severe db error -10709; work process is stopped  
    B  ***LOG BY2=> sql error -10709 performing CON 


Note:
This KBA is only valid if the "Protocol not available" error is found in the work process trace. Do not apply for other scenarios.
