3655384 - ASE 16.1 start results in glibc error: GLIBC_2.29 not found

Symptom

  • A new ASE 16.1 install generates a glibc error
  • When attempting to start SAP ASE 16.1 it fails with:

    $ /opt/sybase/ASE_161/ASE-16_1/bin/dataserver: /lib64/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.29' not found (required by /opt/sybase/ASE_161/ASE-16_1/bin/dataserver)
