3655997 - Dimension description defined in SAC is ignored after exposing SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) seamless planning model to Datasphere

Symptom

  • Expose SAC seamless planning model to Datasphere
  • Observe below behavious:
    • Dimension ID in SAC model exposed as Attribute Business Name in Datasphere Table
    • Dimension description defined in SAC is ignored and cannot be found out in Datasphere Table
    • Attribute Technical Name would be generated automatically as Dimension ID_ID in Datasphere Table

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)
  • Datasphere

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log onto SAC
  2. Create a Seamless Planning model in SAC
  3. Define ID and Description for dimensions in this model
  4. Expose this model to Datasphere space
  5. Check this exposed model in Datasphere and observe below behavious:
    • Dimension ID in SAC model exposed as Attribute Business Name in Datasphere Table
    • Dimension description defined in SAC is ignored and cannot be found out in Datasphere Table
    • Attribute Technical Name would be generated automatically as Dimension ID_ID in Datasphere Table

Cause

This is currently a by designed behaviour.

Resolution

  • This is currently a by designed behaviour.
  • In this context, it's important for the end user, like an analyst, to know, to what exactly one is mapping this attribute to. Due to the disambiguity of description, it would not be exposed to Datasphere when exposing the SAC seamless planning model to Datasphere.
