Symptom
Recruiting operator able to move candidates into statuses they do not have permission to view or select in Latest Applicant Workbench
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management
Reproducing the Issue
- Switch to Latest Applicant Workbench
- Try to move a candidate to a different applicant status within the job requisition
- Notice that there are statuses in the dropdown for which the recruiting operator does not have permission to view or select but still visible and selectable in the dropdown
- Also, recruiting operator is able to successfully move the candidate to the selected status.
Cause
The user is an Interviewer for Application ID: X and has been granted Elevated Permissions for the particular role under Manage Recruiting Settings Grant Interviewers the access level of " " role. The user is also under a particular recruiting operator role for the Job requisition for example, Hiring manager. Therefore, for Application X, the user effectively holds both the role permission of the role selected under Manage Recruiting settings and Hiring Manager role.
Resolution
The fix has been created and will be released in the 2H 2025 release on the following dates:
- 17th October 2025 (Preview)
- 14th November 2025 (Production)
After the code fix, when the user actually tries to perform an action (e.g., Move Applicant), the system performs a second check for status permissions. At this point, it evaluates the user’s permissions as an operator. If the user does not have the Selectable By permission for that status, the action will fail, and an appropriate error message will be returned.
In summary: After the fix, the user will still be able to see and select the status in the dropdown, but the action will fail during execution if the user lacks the proper Selectable By permission. An error will be displayed accordingly.
