3656366 - "Name" field of 'Job Relationships' table on Story reports are throwing user ID instead of displaying Name

Symptom

When creating an Story report using 'Job Relationships' table the "Name" column is throwing user ID instead of displaying the actual name of the user.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create or Run an Story report by using 'Job Information' as driving table;
  2. Link the 'Job Relationships' table;
  3. Add the "Name" field from 'Job Relationships' table;
  4. Preview the query;
  5. You will see that in the "Name" column, user IDs are being fetched instead of actual name of the users.

Cause

This is an expected behavior from the system.

Resolution

The "Name" label is for the technical field "Rel-user-id” which is fetching the user ID only from the JobRelation table and SAC (Story reports) is displaying the same – this is historic behavior for SAC.

In order to be able to collect the name of the user from 'Job Relationships' table, kindly use Table or Canvas reports which will show the correct label.

If fetching the "Name" label from 'Job Relationships' table on Story Reports are a great fit to your business requirements, we strongly suggest you in opening an enhancement request as per described on KBA 2090228 - How to submit enhancement ideas for SAP SuccessFactors Products.
